Major improvements and new features

Close to year end the My-ANI team has worked hard again to provide a series of improvements to their guides of life-style topics. It's promised this is not the end of it for this year, there is yet more to come.

However, before we bring you more, here is the list of what just went online:

  • Navigation of the site got massively improved. For detailed description please refer to our post yesterday.
  • Latest News: In this section the most important articles get collected and it's now made sure, that the most interesting articles is on top - all other articles in this section get sorted accordingly.
  • If articles are recognized as "interesting" and still fit into the "Latest News" section, they move back in the list the longer they stay in this category. This improves quality on the front-page of each guide and gives the freshness attribute higher priority.
  • Faster update of articles! Whenever there are new articles available and scored, they now appear on the site immediately.
  • Some tags in the tag- or topic-cloud got duplicated in the past. This has been cleaned up and shouldn't happen again in the future.
  • Nice new feature for the archive: Click on the "Archive" item in the main menu on the left and you get to the archive of the current day straight away. There you can see the most current articles first and if you want to see older archives, just select the chosen date in the calendar.

Five clever ways to find great content on My-ANI

Over the last couple of months the My-ANI platform has been growing in many different dimensions. One part of the My-ANI team focuses on the best possibilities to find relevant content as quickly as possible. Let's explore them in more detail:

  1. Google Search
Searching Google, Yahoo, Live, Ask and all the other search engines helps you to find whatever you're looking for and more and more these search engines present content from My-ANI on very popular places, i.e. within the top ten. Our system administrators are reporting fast growing numbers of hits from visitors coming to My-ANI through various search engines and we find that very encouraging.
  2. My-ANI Search

When you are already on one of the My-ANI sites and want to search for something specifically, then please enter your search phrase into the search box on the top right of each page within the My-ANI worlds. This search is powered by Google and provides you with results from within the current topic.
  3. The Topic Menu

On top of the main content area you can find a topic menu. When you hover your mouse over a topic, another menu drops down presenting you all subtopics and you can either click on the main topic itself or any of the subtopics and My-ANI will present you all the relevant articles.
  4. The Topic Cloud

Below the topic menu you can see the topic cloud. It shows you the most popular tags. The more popular a topic has been, the more highlighted (text size, text-weight, color) it gets displayed. Just click on one of the topics and My-ANI shows you all the associated articles together with another list of topics which you can use to refine your search and shorten the list of articles displayed.
  5. The My-ANI Archive

The archive helps you to find articles by date. Initially, the current date will be selected after you click on "Topic - Archive" together with a calendar and a list of articles which have been published or updated on the selected day.

Have you got any additional ideas on how you would like to navigate through the huge repositories in the My-ANI World? We'd love to hear from you and want to encourage you to get in touch.
